Silent Hill : The Movie

In my previous post I mentioned that the Silent Hill movie is based on the game Silent Hill 2 but I was wrong when I said that. After a few hours of research on the movie on the internet I found out that the movie is actually based on the first part "Silent Hill". After reading this I was thrilled because the first game was awesome and its story was very compelling. It thrust you into this world where nothing seemed real and everything seemed hostile, that game truly showed me the meaning of "afraid of the dark". That game was the game that has scared me to death but also its the only game in the series whose story I've actually fully understood. The second part's story was sooooo twisted I still have no idea what it was about so I'm sure the guys making the film made the right decision or else I dont think anyone would ever understand what was happening.

I hope it has multiple endings which is what the Silent Hill games has been using since it first came out. Here's an idea, I've seen this in alot of movies, while the whole movie is going along they first show you the bad ending. And after the bad ending is over they take you back to where ever the crucial moment was and show what actually happened and continue from there and then show you the good ending. What do you think? Nah, I dont like it either but if they tried it in someother way it could really be cool.

Anyways, I found out who they starred in the movie. The girl who's taking the place of Cheryl's mother, who is the main protagonist (although in the game the father was the main protagonist and her mother was already dead) is Radha Mitchell (sounds Desi right?). The only movie I know she starred in was Pitch Black, which was great movie I might add. She was the girl who plays the pilot in the movie, I hear she's Australian. But here's the BIG SURPRISE! The guy who will be playing the role of the leading actor is...Sean Bean! I know most of you have never heard the name but believe me you have seen this guy alot! He plays Boromir in Lord of The Rings: Fellowship of The Rings who is a human and goes insane in the end and tries to steal the ring from Frodo. He also was in Dont Say A Word, he plays the villian in the movie. He also is in the new movie Flight Plan as the captain of the plane. He also had a small role in Ronin where he plays a rip off goon who doesnt know shit about making a deal, he was pretty funny in that one. So after reading about this I said to myself "maybe this movie could have some potential after all" although you can never say anything before watching the movie but I think with a cast of formidible talent it could turn out well. Although I could be wrong too coz if you've seen the movie Alone In The Dark which had Christian Slater, Tara Reid and the guy who played Frost in Blade you can never be too sure coz that movie STUNK!

So when it comes out which is whenever go and have a peek at it ok? It could be fun.

Games to Movies, Good to Bad

A few months ago I had found out that Universal was making a movie to the insanely popular game Doom. Ofcourse when I heard about it I was so excited that I did the dance of joy, I was freakingly giddy that day. But after a few days I started to recall every game to movie adaptation I had seen, "Resident Evil", "Alone In The Dark", "Final Fantasy" etc. etc. and I found out that this formula just doesnt work. Game to movie adaptations have the worst rep in the movies industry for movies with big hypes and no content. Most game movies are so hollow that you have no idea what's going on, what had happened, why all these people are there etc. I mean the stories dont have a beginning or a middle or an end. Its like when I watched the movie Resident Evil. It started and I watched it for awhile and later I'm asking myself "when does the actual story start? Why is this movie just dragging along?" But alas my questions were never answered so I had to assume this. It seems to me that the only motive behind making a game adapted movie is just to increase the franchise. I mean like if a certain game has sold a great number of copies and is very famous they think that now is the time to make a movie out of it coz the people who have bought the game will surely watch the movie and this is where they are wrong. If a movie is good it doesnt matter how much publicity it got people will eventually find about it and watch it therefore increasing its gross intake. If a movie is really bad it will get real bad reviews and this is really what hurts the movie, most people nowadays rely on reviews to estimate how good a movie or a game is, they take the word of a critic but I would also like to say that most critics are accurate in their suggestion and I also rely on these critics coz lets just face the fact people dont have the time or the money to watch bad movies or play bad games so these game to movie adaptations never get a good gross coz people have already heard that these movies had stunk up the whole box office, thats why people avoid it and only a bunch of hardcore fans show up to watch it.

This is a list of movies based on games that are coming out in the near future and also with them are my thoughts on these movies:-

Doom

Starring: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike

Directed by: Andrzej Bartkowiak

My Views:
I have a feeling that this movie wont be able to live up to the name of the pc game coz... well lets face it this movie is about space and demons, a topic most people stay away from coz they think its nothing but bullshit (but dont worry I dont think like that) so this will be a movie most people will try to miss coz they might think that its just a stupid action movie. But please dont mix me with these heretics coz I am a very big fan of Doom and I will probably watch it but I really cant say anything about it until I see it. Hope this movie turns out great then there just might be some hope for the game industry in movies.

Silent Hill

Starring: Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, Deborah Kara Unger, Kim Coates

Directed by: Christopher Gans

My Views:
I have a very very bad feeling about this movie coz from what I've heard Akira Yamaoka has absolutely no hand in the making of this movie. And moreover what I've read is going on at the set it seems to me that the whole movie is being made by a bunch of amateurs. The movie is based on the Silent Hill series which was released in 1999 on the Playstation. The actual movie is based on Silent Hill 2. The story of the game goes a little like this, James Sunderland has received a letter from his wife calling him to the town of Silent Hill where they had their most memorible moments but the horror is that his wife already died a few years back, so James goes to the demonic town of Silent Hill to figure out the mystery of his wifes letter.

I have nothing but praise for this game coz I have been a devoted fan of the game series for over 6 years and I've played every Silent Hill game released. Its a good thing that the game is based on Silent Hill 2 coz the story of the game was incredible although I had some issues with the controls of the game, its story is also wider allowing to stretch it to a atleast a 2 hour movie. But whats really bothering me is that I dont think they'll be able to bring the whole fear of the unknown aspect of the game into movie and that is what really made the game one of the best survival horror games out there. I hope this movie comes out great coz you can really make a good movie of the game coz of its original concept and great story. I would also like to add that Silent Hill 3 was my favourite yet, just as an FYI.

Halo

Starring: (Not yet known)

Directed by: Peter Jackson

My Views:
This is the only movie which I think will be able to pull it off. Why? Because its being directed by Peter Jackson for crying out loud!! Also because Microsoft went to alot of trouble to sell this movie. Microsoft went selling the rights to the movie with an absolutely absurd catch on the contract, but the good thing is that the movie is based exactly on the game and Bungie has alot of say in the movie thanks to Microsoft. So I guess this movie could well enough come out great (I hope).

Ofcourse I'm in no position to be making such statements about the movies industry but you have to admit that some of the things I've said seem to appear quite true. I hope you guys enjoyed what I had to say about the upcoming movies based on games coz I'm really excited. Anything related to games makes me excited! But these games were really ground-breaking and great and they deserve to get some recognition from the rest of the world. So when Doom comes out just go watch it even if it sucks for my sake ok?

Tool Addiction

I've become addicted to Tool. Every day I listen to them. Its like my day doesnt start without listening to them. The first thing I do when I get up is turn on my pc and start listening to Tool and I do this the whole day. When I have nothing to do I start listening to Tool. I only have 8 songs which I listen to over and over again. I guess you guys remember my "Listen to it over and over again" post in which I mentioned how I've been listening to Tool - Stinkfist for over a month, just that song. Well, its the same thing thats happening to me right now. I've been listening to them for 2 weeks now and I guess I'll continue to listen to these songs. A friend of mine who's also started to listen to Tool after I told him about them said the same thing that he's been listening to them for months now and cant seem to listen to anything else. A little fact about them coz I'd like people to know just how good they really are, Tool has won 2 Grammy Awards for Best Metal Performance for "Aenima" from the album "Aenima" and "Schism" from the album "Lateralus". Their new album is coming out on January 24, 2006 its called Bilboran and I just cant wait for it!

Been Outta Touch, But Not My Fault

I know I haven't posted anything in awhile but its mainly because of the stupid Technology Ministry here in KSA. The Technology Ministry over here are the national internet gateway and are the sole decision makers for the access of any website. That is why all pornographic material and any website that defiles KSA or Arabs in any way are blocked here in KSA. But for some reason they saw blogger.com as unfit and blocked it. But the strength of the public is always stronger than the government so alot of people wrote to the ministry to unblock this site as they didnt see anything on the site as pornographic and that its only a provider for other blogs so the material on the site isnt what should be blocked but actually the blogs that arent suitable to watch should be. So now they finally came to their senses and unblocked blogger.com. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!

Well I hope that wraps up why I couldnt post anything for my trusted fans (if any do exist). But please dont be disappointed I will be back with another interesting post real soon.So until then Das Vidanya. Ciao. Adios Amigos. Khudahafiz. Bye and a whole lotta other things.

I'M BACK!!!

Yes its true my loyal subjects, The Divine Being has returned from hell known to many as India. It was an interesting experience but one that I wish not to repeat. Well now back to comfortable beds, air conditioning, sleepful nights and most of all, "technology"!! It was real boring in India, actually, its not India's fault its just that I didnt get to go out much coz there was no one I could go out with so I was left home with nothing to do, which sucks! Oh well, life goes on.

India, here I come!!

Well, this post is kind of a adios to my devoted fans. Alas I shall be leaving for India, my fate awaits me. I'll be leaving in about an hour so I thought of leaving a memoir so that you can cherish the almighty Sinn Reaper till the time that I'm gone. This kinda reminds me of a song "Love me when I'm gone", cool song, so cherish this moment and forever remember that He still remains...ASTALAVISTA BABY!!

Listen to it over and over again

Has it ever happened to you that you hear a great song and you cant keep yourself from listening to it over and over again? This is what's been happening to me for a few weeks, well about a month to be more precise. I've been listening to this song "Stinkfist" by a band called "Tool" (really strange name, yeah I know) and I've been listening to it over and over again for atleast a month now and I cant seem to listen to anything else because nothing else sounds good and also because I've stopped downloading songs from the internet coz I cant seem to find good songs anywhere. All you can find on the internet are blacks going "oh baby your so fine" and crap like that, man what is this world coming to. I'll go back and listen to Tool if you guys dont mind. And one more thing, ROCK ON!!
